Jennifer received her Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Gustavus Adolphus College and her Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of St. Thomas. She has been working in higher education for a number of years, the last few years focused on advising students while completing their program. The thing that Jennifer really loves about being a program counselor is having a chance to hear people's stories.
The best career advice Jennifer has ever received is to never stop asking yourself: "What do I want to be when I grow up?"
Her father asked himself this question well into his 60's and always encouraged Jennifer to do the same.
Jennifer's advice to anyone looking for a career change is:
"Do not be afraid to challenge yourself. You do not need to be an expert in the field or be the perfect candidate right away. If there is something you are passionate about pursing, you can work to become that expert or to become a great candidate. You just have to not be afraid to try, not be afraid to make mistakes and just continue to push forward towards your goal."
