About Global Sustainability

Become a leader in environmentally responsible policy and practices with the Global Sustainability Certificate. Sustainability education provides a set of learning experiences to facilitate the development of the knowledge and competencies to create a healthier environment.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics has developed the following definition of “green jobs” as consisting of roles in two areas:

  • Jobs in businesses that produce goods or provide services that benefit the environment or conserve natural resources. 
  • Jobs in which workers' duties involve making their establishment's production processes more environmentally friendly or use fewer natural resources. 

Career Possibilities

Graduates will be prepared to add value to employers with the combination of in-depth knowledge and broad perspectives on the many ways that businesses can be more environmentally responsible. Areas of opportunity include:

  • Conservation park design
  • Environmental education

Professional Qualifications and Requirements

A Bachelor's degree is frequently desirable by employers offering positions in this broad field, specifically in areas related to the sciences. Prospective students are encouraged to thoroughly research employers and career fields connected to this program to understand specific employer requirements connected to their professional interests.
