Empowered UCLA Extension is looking for students who have clear career goals, compelling personal stories, inspire their classmates, and are prepared to succeed with Empowered UCLA Extension’s professional education to benefit their community and family.
Prospective students with financial needs can apply for a 30% scholarship off tuition. All scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis based on an application process.
Successful scholarship candidates are selected on the basis of career goals, financial need, as well as on personal strengths, and leadership.

Eligibility
To qualify for an Empowered UCLA Extension Scholarship, you must first meet the following criteria:
- Completed the enrollment application process
- Have not previously been offered an Empowered UCLA Extension scholarship
- Adjusted Annual Gross Income of less than $50,000
- Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
Employees (or family members) of Empowered Careers, Creative Artists Agency, UCLA or UCLA Extension are not eligible. Family members are defined here as spouses, domestic partners, siblings or dependent children.
If you work at Intel and are interested in the encore certificate program, please contact your benefits manager; do not apply through the Empowered Scholarship process.
Note: Scholarship recipients are responsible for all other educational expenses. An iPad is required, but is NOT included in your enrollment fee or tuition.
Application Process
Call an admissions advisor at 1-800-EMPOWER to start your enrollment application. The scholarship application process is separate from the enrollment application. Only students who applied for enrollment will be considered for scholarship awards, though the two can be done simultaneously.
Complete and submit Scholarship application online
If you are selected for a scholarship, you must authorize the IRS to provide a copy of your most recent federal tax return to Empowered or its agent, to verify your household income and household size.
Follow instructions for scholarship acceptance included in the award email.
Application Deadline
We are now accepting scholarship applications for the Summer 2013 quarter.
All scholarship applications must be submitted by July 5, 2013, but don't delay! Scholarship applications are considered in the order they are received and we only have a limited number of funds to award.

Whereas it is Empowered UCLA Extension’s present intent to fully implement this scholarship program, neither UCLA, UCLA Extension nor Empowered Careers makes any binding contractual commitment and reserves the right to modify the provisions of the program, or to terminate it, in the sole discretion of such parties both individually and in the aggregate. Empowered UCLA Extension shall be entitled to allocate scholarships among students and among programs as it sees fit in its sole discretion, in accordance with published scholarship criteria. All decisions made by Empowered UCLA Extension regarding the award of a scholarship are final and the only binding commitment undertaken by Empowered UCLA Extension is to credit a student’s tuition charges with the amount of any scholarship actually awarded.
